Christchurch Harbour needs your support!
On July 15th the ‘Environment & Place Committee’ of BCP are debating the future of the ‘Environmental Protection of Christchurch Harbour’ that the FULL Council voted UNANIMOUSLY for on the 25th March 2025. And have done nothing with since.
Christchurch Harbour is under intense pressure from everything that flows into the Stour & the Avon, that’s excess sewage, run off from roads, farmland, landfill sites as well as plenty of other sources of pollution. Poole Harbour has protection and two very small rivers flowing into it. Our harbour is a 15th of the size and with the lowest tidal range of any harbour in central southern England the harbour does not drain effectively enough. There is already illness being recorded as well as environmental issues causing difficulties for the natural world but if nothing is done it will get worse.
Hundreds if not thousands of water users (both humans and nature) deserve clean water. The levels of nitrates, phosphates and E-Coli are too high.
We desperately need the residents of Christchurch to come to the Civic Offices in Bournemouth at 5-6pm on the 15th July to demonstrate how much this matters.
